Wisdom teeth don't always need to be removed, but when they cause pain, infection or damage to neighbouring teeth, extraction is often the best solution. At Forest Dental, we provide comfortable wisdom tooth removal using modern techniques to help you recover as quickly as possible.
Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to develop and often don't have enough room to erupt properly. This can lead to pain, swelling, repeated infections, damage to neighbouring teeth or difficulty cleaning the area. Following a thorough examination, we'll determine whether your wisdom tooth is best monitored or removed. Some wisdom teeth require additional imaging before treatment. If we feel a CT scan is necessary to assess the position of your tooth and its relationship to nearby nerves and surrounding structures, we provide this at no additional cost. This allows us to plan your treatment as safely and accurately as possible.
We'll examine your wisdom tooth, discuss your symptoms and decide whether removal is the most appropriate treatment.
We'll take any necessary imaging to assess the tooth. If a CT scan is clinically required, we'll provide it free of charge to help us plan your treatment safely.
Your wisdom tooth is carefully removed using local anaesthetic. For more complex cases or nervous patients, IV sedation may also be available for adults aged 18 and over.
You'll receive detailed aftercare instructions to help minimise discomfort and reduce the risk of complications while your mouth heals.

We hate hidden fees as much as you do. Every plan is written down in full — you'll never get a surprise invoice at reception.
IV conscious sedation is available for suitable adult patients and is charged separately. Please see our Sedation Dentistry page for further information.

No. Many wisdom teeth remain healthy and never cause problems. We only recommend removal if there's a clear clinical reason, such as pain, repeated infection, decay or damage to neighbouring teeth.
Not everyone does. If your dentist believes a CT scan is needed to assess the position of the tooth or nearby nerves, we'll provide one free of charge before treatment.
The procedure itself is carried out under local anaesthetic, so you shouldn't feel pain during treatment. Some soreness afterwards is normal and can usually be managed with the advice and medication we recommend.
Yes. We offer IV conscious sedation for suitable patients aged 18 years and over, helping nervous patients feel relaxed throughout treatment. Sedation is charged separately.
Most patients recover within a few days, although more complex extractions may take a little longer. We'll provide detailed aftercare instructions to help you heal as quickly as possible.
We recommend sticking to soft foods for the first few days while avoiding very hot food, alcohol and smoking. We'll provide full aftercare instructions before you leave the practice.
