They are made from a composite resin and as opposed to conventional fillings which are placed into the chewing surface of a tooth, a white filling is bonded directly to a tooth. This means they can be used for back and front teeth alike.
You may wish to replace a damaged or old amalgam filling with a white filling, particularly if you’re looking for a more discreet outcome.
White fillings can also be used to repair minor chips and cracks that have not significantly affected the integrity of a tooth. The composite resins can be accurately shaped to recreate the appearance of a natural-looking tooth.
Minor to moderate decay can also be addressed with a white filling. Should we find your tooth is severely decayed, we may need to consider protecting your tooth with a more substantial restoration, like an inlay, onlay or crown.

We will check how much decay and damage has occurred.
Treating your tooth
A local anaesthetic may be used to numb your tooth and the decay is carefully removed from the tooth. The layers of composite resin are applied and shaped to match your natural teeth. Your tooth is then cured with a UV light and polished.
