One of the reasons we emphasise the importance of coming in for routine dental check-ups is so that any potential signs of mouth cancer can be promptly assessed and addressed. Fortunately, when detected early mouth cancer is one of the most curable cancers.
Should we find anything out of the ordinary, please don’t be alarmed as most often it’s unlikely to be cancer. However, as the saying goes, it’s always good to be on the safe side.
We may refer you for further investigations if any of the above symptoms are found during your routine dentist or hygienist appointments here in Blackwood.

Lifestyle choices such as using tobacco products and consuming excess alcohol each week can dramatically increase your mouth cancer risk. If you would like to reduce or cut these habits out, we can help you come up with a plan to do so.
Mouth cancer risk can also be down to genetics. If mouth cancer runs in your family (or indeed you have other high mouth cancer risk factors), we may recommend coming in to see us a little more regularly.
