Composite bonding uses thin layers of composite resin to rebuild and reshape a tooth.
You may wish to consider composite bonding if you’re looking for the least involved treatment available for repairing problems including:
Examination
An examination of your tooth will give your dentist insight into whether the tooth in question requires restorative or cosmetic treatment. As long as your tooth is not at risk of infection, decay or gum disease, we will be able to go ahead with composite bonding.
Applying the resins
The composites we use are paste-like in texture, which means they can be gradually applied to your tooth and carefully shaped in place. The pigments used will be selected to match your natural tooth shade.
During the process, a UV light will harden the resin in place as they are applied.
Polishing your tooth
To emulate the translucency of natural tooth enamel, the tooth is polished.
I would like to whiten my teeth: does this come before composite bonding?
No. If you would like a smile makeover that involves both teeth whitening and composite bonding, you will need to have your tooth bonded first. This is because composite resins do not respond to the teeth whitening gel, therefore we will need to whiten your teeth first and match the resins of your bonded tooth to your newly whitened teeth.
